Fringe Open Meeting 2009 – Event Submission process starts – Feb 2nd – and lots more news!

Monday February 2nd at 7.30pm at Chapel Arts

Open Meeting for projects, performers, ideas and general volunteers. Or just to find out what people are doing this year to see if your ideas connect.

If you can’t come to that meeting and you want to put on a show, or be involved in whatever capacity, be in touch on adminbathfringe.co.uk. We’ll have the event submission process, venues list, helpful suggestions, and all the rest ready by that date, so you can get us to EMail you the info afterwards, especially if, like some of our experienced contributors, you already know what you’re doing. There will also be at least one more Volunteer Meeting much nearer the time, so there are still plenty of opportunities to get involved if you don’t make this one, and we’ll have more ideas of specific things to do by then.

Chapel Arts is the building which used to be Windows, Invention, Central Club, etc. - if you’ve been in Bath a while, you’ll know the place, otherwise, try putting BA1 1QR into your favourite navigation aid (works OK on Multimap or Google Maps, I checked), and it’s the chapel-like building by the little green.

Please please note that this is NOT the meeting for visual artists: if you want to know what FAB Fringe Visual Arts is doing (plenty) look at their website - http://fringeartsbath.squarespace.com - and contact them through the coordinates there.

FRINGE HITS YOUTUBE
We’ve just put up a load of Jasper’s video material on YouTube. Footage going back as far as 2000, no less, so we can all remind ourselves of things we’ve forgotten or weren’t at to start with... Take a look at http://uk.youtube.com/user/bathfringe ...

KILTER NEW CREATION
Fringe outdoor theatre faves Kilter are making a piece for the egg’s Family Theatre Festival. It’s called The Little Month, it’s billed as “a theatrical treasure trail around Bath”, and will be happening sometime around Feb. 14-22. Go to www.kiltertheatre.com or www.theatreroyal.org.uk/the-egg to see if they know any more: and if they don’t, keep going back till they do!

FRINGE AT BATH LITERATURE FESTIVAL
(Fringe of? Fringe to?) Anyway, the literature festival is Sat 28th February – Sun 8th March, their website is www.bathlitfest.org.uk: the Fringe is involved in 2 performances in the festival, (our revered chair John Christopher Wood’s one man show, and also some of his acclaimed poetry with some of his chums, see the Litfest website under ‘performance’). PLUS there will be another edition of the frabjous Bookswap (coordinates TBC, keep an eye on the Fringe website or here). Also some of the usual suspects are plotting something curious that we probably won’t find out about until it’s about to happen. Or already happened. So keep your eyes open for artistic weirdness at all times!

BANDSTANDING
Wish it was the summer? Wish you were standing around in a field? Check the online documentation at www.myspace.com/babylonbandstand: wet or dry, some Glastonbury good times (and major muntering) remembered. Which is more than certain of them will have done.
